Accumulation Beats Ambition
There was $511 in my savings account.
And the price to watch someone else’s $10,000 group coaching program?
$500.
Not join. Not be coached. Just watch.
I’d only opened that savings account about a month earlier.
I hovered over the “Pay” button. My hands were sweaty. My thoughts screamed:
“This is all your money.”
“This is irresponsible.”
“What if something happens?”
But something in me knew:
I wasn’t just buying access.
I was buying capacity.
So I clicked.
That $500 became the first domino. A few months later I bought another program for $500. Then another $500.
Today, I pay $350/month just for one of the programs I’m in.
What once felt outrageous… is now my norm.
But here’s the thing no one tells you about leaping:
To make a leap, you need resources.
Not just motivation. Not just a deep “why.”
You need actual, tangible capacity:
You can’t leap if your tank is empty.
That’s why I’m constantly accumulating.
Not hoarding—but gathering resources like someone who knows an opportunity is coming.
Because it always is.
Ever seen the movie In Time with Justin Timberlake?
Time = currency.
To move from one life zone to the next, you literally had to accumulate time.
- One month to go the next zone
- Two months to cross into the next one, then
- 6 months, and then
- a whole year - an equivalent of a lifetime in the movie.
That’s what it’s like in real life, too.
You don’t get to the next level just by dreaming or forcing yourself to “be ready.”
You get there by building the capacity to say yes when the door opens.
So how do you do that?
4 Steps to Start Accumulating Capacity
1. See your next level.
Define it. Write it down. 6 months. 1 year. 5 years. 10 years.
(My 10-year vision made my hands sweat. That’s how I knew it was real.)
2. Name the gap.
What’s missing between your today and that version of you?
Make a list.
3. Accumulate deliberately.
Start gathering what you need:
- Set aside extra cash
- Meet new people
- Free up your calendar
- Build your audience
- Expand your energetic capacity
4. Plug the leaks.
Where are your resources being drained?
This week, I moved all my subscriptions to my assistant’s email.
Because while I go through all the promotions, I waste energy that is needed to build relationships with real people.
The wild part? Once you start building your capacity, new opportunities show up—better than the ones you originally planned for.
That’s what happened to me.
In 2023, I accumulated energy to launch a course. Instead, I attracted a speaking gig in Dubai. So I said yes to speaking in Dubai even at a cost of moving my launch for a couple of weeks down my calendar.
I said yes to both - to my new level and to the things I've planned before.
Because I wasn’t burned out.
I had capacity.
I’m on this journey with you.
I’ve got my vision. I’ve got my list. I’m checking my savings, my calendar, my energy daily.
Your turn:
What are you committing to this week?
Hit reply and tell me. I read every one.
Let’s build our future selves, one resource at a time.
